Sad Times

Tons of conversations as of late have revolved around the topic of crying. I will mention some movies in which a tear was shed. I may spoil some parts of movies you have not seen.

Rudy: For any sports fan or any person that likes it when the underdog wins, this is the movie for you. Basically I have seen this movie dozens of times and cried everytime. When Rudy first gets to walk out on the field. When Rudy gets accepted to Notre Dame after trying forever. When the crowd starts chanting Rudy. When Pete dies. When Rudy gets to play in the game. When Rudy sacks the QB. When Rudy gets carried off the field. Note: Last person to ever get carried off the field at Notre Dame was Rudy. Basically I cry during the whole movie.

I have gotten choked up during most of the Rocky movies. I really cheer for the underdog in movies. Rocky 2 is when tears were shed. I lost it when Adriane was in the hospital after giving birth.

Philadelphia: I don't know a person alive that hasnt shed a tear to this movie. I cried when Tom Hanks character got fired, when Denzel took his case, when Denzel won the case, when Tom Hanks character dies.

I feel these movies are normal to cry to, being either male or female. I am a little shy and embarassed to mention I cried during The O.C. season 1 at the end. I just felt so bad for Ryan because his situation was one anyone could find themselves in. I however cheered beyond loud when Seth rails my dream girl Summer.

ESPN does these segments on Sports Center where a young kid that is going to die soon gets to meet their favorite athlete. I have cried during the 4 or so I seen. I will never forget watching this one episode at Lisa's appartment one night. She was in the kitchen and I was watching TV. This kid Charlie had brain cancer and his dream was to meet Donovan McNabb the Quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles (NFL team). They took this kid to practice and he got to be the assistant coach for a day. He met his hero Donovan McNabb coming out of the tunnel and the smile on that kids face made me choke up beyond belief. Then the kid got to pick some routes he wanted the receivers to run and tell Donovan which player to throw to. At the end of practice he got to bring the team in (end practice with everyone putting their hands in and doing a cheer). By this time I am full on shedding tears. I am under the impression Lisa is still not around and feel fine showing some emotion. Afterwards head coach Andy Reid let Charlie pick any play the Eagles run and he said it will be the first play of the game on offense. Charlie ended up dying before the next Eagles game but coach Reid kept his promise and ran the play Charlie selected. The play was a passing play to (Donte Stallworth?) in which the Eagles scored a T.D. on the play Charlie selected. By this time snot is running down my face and I'm crying my eyes out. The celebration on the sidelines and in the endzone was unreal. You would think the Eagles just won the Superbowl. Everyone was beyond pumped. It was no normal T.D. celebration. Turns out Lisa was standing behind me watching me the whole time. She thought it was hot that I could show my emotions (something every girl has said I don't do). I am a little choked up right now just rethinking this episode.
